Cashflow Game & Lessons Learned

An even better place to learn these lessons is through the CASHFLOW Game. If you’ve played the game – what lessons have you learned?

cash flow & lessons
Kia ora Robert,

the game has just reinforced what your books have said.

I ilked straight away though your concepts on learning. AS an instructor in the NZ army I learnt that everyone learns differently & for many to reinforce the lessons of the class room it was better to do some practical training before the theory test.

No one was dumb they just learned differently.

In fact to learn legal nicities such as for Internal security or peace keeping we did BHL or battle handling lessons in the classroom followed by BHE battle handling exercises to get it right in everyones minds (especially the legal part of rules of engagement). We also put more emphasis on walk through talk through so soldiers could ask questions to get it right in their mind. If they were asking you can bet 10 others wanted to ask, but were too scared too.

so back to cash flow I love it as it puts the lessons in a fun co operative environment.

Cashflow lessons
I've learned so much from Cashflow:
-That my older generation players collect thier money and never keep track of it, and therefor never know they have what it takes to buy an asset. they are also reluctant to let go of it.
- that a lot of people know NOTHING about ANy investment vehicle, from a lowly savings account/CD to stocks and real estate. Cattle mentality. very reluctant to lern anything about them without prodding.
- thats kids are expensive. (why cant we ditch a kid after they're married off??)
-by having a strong rat Race passive income makes it easier to go bigger in the fast track.
- learned/reiforced the concept of looking what return buying an asset gives vs paying off a debt.
-that passive income gives you FREEDOM to stay at your rat race job if you really enjoy it or dump it at will.
-that money isnt everything. i find myself bored in the fast track because the little challenges of life make it fun, and in the fast track they can be bought through. there is no excitment of anticipation. Kind of like how much more people who work for thier things appriciate it more than those who have stuff handed to them.
-that i'd really like to find the college that only charges $200 for books and a course!! And a housepainter for $600.

The Real Game is on the Balance Sheet
Robert,

I used to think there was a flaw in your game. That borrowing money from the bank anytime I wanted was not a reality. Until, the banks started lending money virtually anytime I wanted for real.

Unfortunately, that's when I discovered the real consequences that come as result of my financial illiteracy. What's more, I discovered I had the lingo down well enough to be convincing, but lacked the sophistication to back it up.

However, instead of giving up, I’ve closed all the credit card accounts. Gone back to the game and now I pay more attention to working my income and balance sheet.

Because, it’s like you've said Robert, the real game is working the sheet, not moving the rat around the board.

Cashflow game
I spent a year playing 101 and 202 with my girlfriends. I have learned a lot about using debt to remain in the game (we learned to divert from the actual rules via Rich Dad Seminars).

How to use investing in property to invest in bigger real estate investments. How the return on investment doesn't work with mutual funds. How the stock market can go either way and if it goes your way, you can make much money.

Cashflow
The biggest thing I've learned from Cashflow is how to work with a financial statement to improve passive income. Focus on the assets, don't lower your expenses, raise your passive income!

Keep Learning....
I think that the cashflow game is great for those who choose to build their wealth from the perspective of an employee.

correction to chapter 11? and cashflow game
Chapter 11 page 12 under refiance property should it read plus get orginal 20,000 back to reinvest not an extra 20,000. you borrow 100,000 put extra 20,000 in and when refianance you get 120,000 which just gives you your 20,000 plus an assett and cashflow. Also does that change the following charts? I really learned playing the cashflow game the two types of money problems to little and to much. I was a struggling mechanic but when I hit the fast tract I was getting 300,000 a month and when I lost all my cash in divorce I was back on a roll in a Month. My 11 year old daughter beat me in the end but we both learned a lot.

What Cashflow 101 has taught me.
I have learned how to listen to the words people speak as they are playing. When a person says things like "How come they get all the good deals and I don't?!!", the loser in them is speaking. This is just one of many lessons this game has taught.
